Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (adolescents and young adults)
Research shows that psychotherapy can be particularly effective in working with depression, low mood, anxiety or behaviour disorders. It can often be helpful when things have been difficult for a while or it is hard to make sense of what is going on.
The Approach
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an exploratory, in-depth therapy. Rather than following a fixed structure, it follows you, moving at your pace and attending to what feels most alive or troubling. Over time, greater self-understanding can bring a relief in symptoms and lasting change.
What it can help with
Psychodynamic psychotherapy may be helpful if you are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, a sense of emptiness or being stuck, or a feeling that the same painful patterns keep repeating.
I offer a short initial phone call so we can explore whether psychodynamic psychotherapy is the right approach.
What to expect
We begin with an initial consultation, which gives us the chance to meet, talk through what has brought you to therapy, and think together about whether this feels like the right fit. If we decide to work together, sessions take place weekly, each lasting 50 minutes.
Psychodynamic therapy is open-ended and the length of the work is something we think about together as we go.
About me
I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist with eight years of post-qualification experience working with adolescents, and young people up to the age of 25. I primarily work face-to-face and am professionally registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
